
Prof. Huiping Tang
Professor Huiping Tang is a distinguished expert in powder metallurgy (PM) and additive manufacturing (AM), recognized for her groundbreaking contributions to the field. Her outstanding work has been honoured with 10 prestigious awards in China, including:
- National Technology Invention Award (second prize)
- National Science and Technology Progress Award (second prize)
- Eight provincial and ministerial level first prizes
She has authored over 300 SCI-indexed papers and 6 academic books and holds more than 100 authorized invention patents. Furthermore, she has played a key role in shaping industry standards, contributing to the formulation or revision of 21 national and industry standards
Professor Tang's most notable achievements in PM and AM include:
- Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion System: She developed China's first electron beam powder melting additive manufacturing system, successfully commercializing the technology.
- Plasma Rotating Electrode Powder Manufacturing: She pioneered China's high-power plasma rotating electrode powder manufacturing equipment and technology, achieving significant commercial success.
- Large Specialty Metal Porous Parts: She invented a range of large specialty metal porous parts and designed their commercial production lines, supporting key national projects in the coal chemical industry, polysilicon production, and biomedical fields.
Professor Tang founded the Porous Materials Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society. She also serves as the Deputy Director of the Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics Academic Committee of the Chinese Society for Nonferrous Metals, the Vice Chairman of the Powder Metallurgy Branch of the China Steel Construction Society, an Academic Member of the National New Materials Industry Development Strategy Advisory Committee, and a Standing Committee Member of the Additive Manufacturing Technology Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. Previously, she served in key positions such as Deputy Chief Engineer at the Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Porous Metal Materials.
